Set in the tumultuous backdrop of 1984 South Yorkshire, 'The Communists' follows Joe Starkhill, a disillusioned steelworker turned revolutionary. Teaming up with his fellow radicals, Joe orchestrates a high-stakes takeover of the Town Hall, taking several officials hostage as they declare their vision for a socialist uprising in Britain. However, when a technical malfunction thwarts their attempts to broadcast their message, the lack of immediate attention leads to escalating tensions. It isn’t until one hostage goes missing that the police, led by Inspector John Machin, are called to the scene. Soon, the Town Hall turns into a media frenzy, spotlighting Starkhill and his comrades in a gripping tale of desperation and activism.
